Finland and the Kalevala
Discovering Finland a few years ago was an esthetic amazement. The beauty of the landscapes and the remarkable Finnish mythology, the Kalevala, I immediately found both enthralling and inspiring.
Water is everywhere, flirting with the intensity of the northern light or its darkness. The forest is infinite. The omnipresence of nature, the endless stretches of dark northern woods are a place of powerful drama and melancholy.
Finally, the Kalevala, a work of epic poetry is like the landscapes, a powerful mixture of tragedy, lyricism, and magic.
These elements: the water, the dark infinite Finnish forest, and the remarkable mythology, are the essence of the country and constitute the main topics of my artistic work.

Women occupy a dominant place in the Finnish mythology
and the way they are treated today comes from the lessons learnt from the Kalevala poems
with great respect , like any sister , mother , wife , goddess ... and witch should be treated !
